Meet the Heart Behind Wild | Alabaster: A Soulful, Women-Owned Crystal Business Rooted in Intention
Embrace Change, Embrace the Present
"You do not have to ignore or erase the past, You just have to wholeheartedly embrace the present and move on." — Yung Pueblo
Good morning, Wild Ones —
This blog post has two parts:
-
A proper welcome (because so many new faces are joining us).
-
A personal confession (because transparency is the heartbeat of our brand).
Let’s start with the confession.
On a recent evening walk, I spiraled into familiar imposter syndrome. I began questioning everything about how I run this business — especially how I show up online. For the past five years, Wild | Alabaster has been rooted in rawness and soul. You’ve seen the behind-the-scenes, read my words, and watched us grow in real time.
But that night, I asked myself…
Should I be more polished? Should I remove my face and let the brand speak? Should I aim to look more like the glossy, effortless businesses that dominate Instagram?
I spiraled deeper. I showered. I scrolled through Pinterest and Instagram. It didn’t help. The comparison trap left me tangled in self-doubt.
Finally, I turned to my partner and told him everything I was feeling. He listened quietly and then gently said:
"Babe, I’m going to repeat you back to yourself. It gets to look however YOU want it to look. This is what feels good to you. Your soul would die if you shifted into a corporate way of doing things. And I think the brand would follow. Rach… you are the magic."
And I cried.
So hello — maybe for the first time, or maybe in a deeper way — my name is Rachael James.
I’m a mother of four living on a sea island outside Charleston, SC. I’m a creative entrepreneur and the founder of Wild | Alabaster — a women-owned crystal business rooted in beauty, integrity, and intention.
I started this shop because I couldn’t find affordable, ethically sourced crystals that also felt energetically aligned. I often felt out of place in the crystal world — too much of this, not enough of that. So I built what I was craving: a place where anyone can come as they are and feel safe, seen, and supported.
Wild | Alabaster is about more than crystals. It’s about energy. Alignment. Beauty. Home. Healing. Ordinary magic.
When I was a young mom, I wanted my home to be a sanctuary filled with Earth energy — houseplants, stones, things that grounded me and gave back energetically. But the crystal market was wildly expensive and often unregulated. I promised myself I’d build something better — more accessible, ethically sourced, and energetically sound.
Where We Are Now
After a 16-month pause (through divorce, moving, and realignment), Wild | Alabaster is growing again. We’re back — with more intention than ever. This is my full-time work, my main source of income as a single mother, and how I support two other families. But more than that — it’s my offering.
Every order, every share, every tag helps keep this dream alive. When you shop with us, you’re choosing women-owned, small-batch, soulful business. You’re investing in alignment, transparency, and sustainability.
